WTF! I can not believe that Alaska didn't legalize ganja. Of all the states that might have pulled it off Alaska was on the top of my list. They are isolated, the are near Canada (were it's decriminalized) and they are really chill people. Also, with the exception of main landers they pay an arm and a leg for it. Unfortunately it seems like there may be no hope now.

I can see the argument for banning harder drugs, but I don't understand why marijuana is controlled as it is.

I even heard that the Federal Government treatened to cut them from the budget if it passed. However, I have not been able to find any articles about it.

I was reading that if leagalization happened....it wouyld save tax payers around $8 billion per year. Anotther note, every 45 seconds, a marijuana user gets arrested. Its time to do something about this bullshit! Visit the site in my sig!

Have faith potheads. California passed an initiative to send non violent drug users to rehab instead of to jail.

Of course, there is not faster route to decriminalization of drugs then voting Libertarian.

Whoever said it's decriminalized in Canada?! All we've done is passed legislation to allow it for medical use, but patients can't find it legally to use it! so they still have to go to the streets to buy it, they just wont' be busted for possession.

Ultima, please linkify the address in your sig. Remember: Potheads can be lazy. Some too lazy for cut and paste even. LOL, I grumbled to myself when I had to go through the old, tedious, "Cut and Paste" routine ;)

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't/didn't Seattle, WA have incredibly leanient laws concerning marijuana?

I remember hearning about this like 5 years ago, but don't you more or less get a slap on the wrist if you are caught with 5 or fewer joints?

I thought it was something along the lines of a $25 fine or something.

Maybe I'm just smoking something :p

Have you ever been to Seattle? If you have then you would know why it would be "big" here.

Because I don't believe in drug use for recreational activity. I really don't have room for any drugs in my house, around my family, etc. I don't want a teacher who teachs my future kids smoking pot, I don't want the doctor who examines my kids smoking pot. If you don't mind it thats fine, but the Alaska's citizens shot it down 2 to 1, so that says something about how most of America feels too. Once pot is legal then someone will move to have acid, etc. Like I said, I have no tolerance for this kind of crap.

Well unless you don't have alcohol in your house, or arround your family & you don't want you doctor to to have a glass of wine with his dinner, etc, etc; your a hypocrite

One reason for keeping pot illegal is becasue there have not been any studies on the long term effects of it.

We simply don't know what the term sequelae to that of cigarette smoking lung ca, pacreatic ca, oropharangeal ca, cardiovascular disease, polycythaemia etc. Also, effects on the brain, while it might seem obvious to people who smoke pot ;) haven't been researched in enough detail to come to a decision to legalise it.

There also remains the possible consequences of people driving/operating machinery etc while under the influence, and it is likely that we'll see a large increase in the number of people doing this.

It should be made legal (if it isn't already in the States, I don't know) for people with Multiple Sclerosis and other neurodegenerative disease to be prescribed it for medicinal purposes, because there HAVE been studies to show the efficacy of pot under those circumstances.

Just my 2 cents :)

There is a difference in having a glass of wine with dinner and smoking pot, using cocaine, etc. Big difference. If you don't see it thats your problem not mine.

And quite frankly I don't care to pollute the earth with the smoke from someone who wishes to get high nor do I care to breathe it.

I'd actually also advocate the banning of alcohol if I a) was a dictator and b) could get away with it.

Anyone who has worked in casualty, an ER or police can tell you the effect alcohol has on society.

firstly grouping pot with cocaine is not just pharmasutacly incorrect but just plain moronic (no insult intended just proving my point), further more alchohol has a much more deliterious effect than Marijuana and the long tem effects have been proven to be leathal.

if YOU dont see the flaws in your logic well thats not my problem.

Ummm FettsBabe, your are HIGLY misimformed. Getting drunk is for more destructive than smoking root. A man gets drunk and beats his wife, a man smoke weed, eats and falls asleep.

It seems to me that your are just being ignorant and don't want to face the fact that weed is a SOFT drug!

I know plenty of people who smoked pot, and moved on to other substances because it was no longer a "quality" high. Drug use is worse than alcohol or at least thats my opinion and we all know what we say about opinions!!

BTW, its also pharmacutically incorrect to link any medication with another. All are different. I linked them together because they are illegal substances!
