Say I want to run 2xGTX 295

I'm wondering for future purpose, what caliber of power supply would be needed to run 2xGTX 295 (Quad SLI).

e.g would the Corsair 1000HX be more than enough?

Running with a i7 processor that would be oc:ed.
 
i7 overclocked rigs with two GTX 295 pull ~ 650w from the wall, which is ~550w at the PSU, depending on the efficiency. I'd go with a good 850 to have some headroom
 
I've decided to return the PCP&C 750W Silencer, and purchase the Corsair 1000HX 🙂 Hopefully it will last.
 
How about noise? Does the power supply or transistors exhibit any of the common problems like buzzing transformer or high pitched whine?
 
According to the anandtech review they revealed that ..

Maximum fan speed is unfortunately reached at 80% of load

I did receive the psu yesterday, it's quite big actually and looks cool. But the gfx is still missing.
As soon as i get my GTX 295 I'll be ready to put this baby to work.


Anyway,

Maximum fan speed in the Corsair is rated at only 35 dB(A).

Since a single 295 GTX can hit 44 dB(a) at load, there's virtually no chance you'll hear the Corsair PSU over the sound of 2xGTX 295s!
