They can improve but how can one guy be worth more than 4.

Local busines will always be there. Larger companies are more prone to do some sort of out sourcing.

A bigger concern is this H-1B visa.

If someone can do your job better than you and can get an H1B visa to be here to do it why shouldn't they?

I work with 2 kids on H1B visas and let me tell you they work harder and are smarter than almost anyone they could have hired out of school.
dey turk arr jorbs!!

Screw that...if they weren't worth it a company wouldn't take the time or the effort to sponsor their visa. They're getting these visas on merit.

People are so sensitive about their jobs...
BUT ARR JORBS!!!!

Outsourcing isn't a concern to me at all. Though, people are sensitive about their jobs because it feeds them.

People are just pissed when they can't adapt. Hell, there are people out there who are contractors that take 4 or 5 contracting jobs and outsource them. If your'e smart and have a skill you have no reason to be worried about outsourcing.

You're just on crack. American IT will always exist, it's just a matter of waiting for all the retards that have no business in IT to get fired.

90% of our IT workforce has no skill except on paper.

Wow so you have 90% of the it workforce without jobs and 90% of manufacturing. WTF are they supposed to do to feed their families? Walmart? Ohh wait the immigrants already took all those jobs for minimum wage.

They will work hard, why? Because they have seen a much worse life where their life wasn't so easy, all of them are just waiting for a chance to make someone out of themselves. WHen they are given that chance, they will work their a$$ off and do the best possible

Oh, and parents have a huge influence. There, they see their parents working hard all the time so they feel that parents are working so hard just for them, that is the reason too.

u da man :D

Microsoft has no reason to save money. In fact, they're intentionally attempting to become less efficient.

It makes perfect sense - they have so much cash that they can't possibly spend it normally, and they can't just horde it (That'll kill the economy that makes them so filthy rich) so they find every possible way to get rid of it. Yes, you heard me, they try to keep profit DOWN.

Edit: Confirmed by a Microsoft bean-counter.

Yea no kidding. I'm one of the LAST guys you want to ask about economics, but even I can see this person has wasted an education.

If you're job is being outsourced: sorry, but it's time to change careers!

That's right, now get your butts in Wally World and stock those shelves for $6.50 hr and be happy with your new Career change.

Why don't you start your own programming company and become a greedy corporate buddy yourself. Don't blame Bush if you're unwilling to work in a competing market.

That's a great gimme gimme gimme attitude.

I'm more worried about over-consolidation of industry, forming super-monopolies. Want to blame someone? Blame Microsoft. It's their overwhelming international hold on the OS market that allows those Indian people to do our jobs. Because much of the computing technology and even the Internet is English based, it encouraged the last generation to adapt and now many people are on a more level playing field. You think programmers in India could take our jobs if they couldn't read English code? But on the flip-side, if it weren't for Microsoft creating a computing industry that is standard across the world, you probably would not have gone to college for programming. You probably would not be chatting on Anandtech right now.

If you want to get ahead, stopping playing the blame game and make yourself better, give yourself an edge by specializing in something. In my state, on Monster.com, I see Java and .Net developers listed all the time. Get really good at database applications.
