It was pretty big. It looked much bigger than the older one. One thing I noticed was the use of a lot of LEDs. It seemed like other than the HID headlights, everything was LED. All in all, I would say not bad. It's a little bit boxy though.

Mercedes has been transistioning away from the smooth and rounded shapes of the last gen to the boxy shapes with the new gen of cars. If you look at the new The new SL, C, E, etc all have more straight lines and agressive looks than the curvy, rounded models that preceded them.

That car looks a bit different from the one I saw. The fog lights weren't there like that one. Instead there were LED driving lights very similar to Audis. They were quite bright. Looked very sharp.

I'm not sold on the design, I don't think it lookw bad, certainly not like an Acura TL or RL(though it is angular like the Acuras, just more cohesive) but it is different. I do have a last gen E so maybe its because I'm so familiar with the curving shape of the W211, but I think the W211s were absolutely beautiful.

Does anyone else feel like LED's are the latest car fad? What I mean by that is...they look all special right now. Only very expensive cars tend to have them. In 10 years, every Kia will have LED's all over them. Not to mention all the aftermarket LED parts will come out that people will put all over their 20 year old Buick with 22 chrome dubs. Suddenly the really expensive cars will distance themselves from LED's and older "expensive" cars with LED's will start to look cheap/gimmicky because of the use of LED's?

As a footnote...I think LED's are here to stay...I'm more referring to the very prominent display of LED's to let peopel know it is LED vs. some other lighting technology. I think overtime the expensive brands will just stick with using them...just not outright "showing them off".

Thoughts?

i think LED tail lights are the way to go. as well as LED interior lighting. I get what you mean though, for example audi has those cool LED accented headlights. i think they're gonna get overused in that respect, but then they will become simple and functional. I personally think LED tail lights are good because they are functional, turn on right away, and are brighter. my car came w/ them and they look way better than the old style of my car that just had regular tail lamps. same with interior LED, they look sharp.

Looks like something I'd have to see in person.
