not as bad as that sounds but..
driving back from San francisco to Santa Cruz with my boyfriend on 880 South.. and there was a huge blazing fire and smoke billowing (sp?) from the front of a car on the side of the road in the opposite direction. I have never seen that before but it was psychotic. I dont think anyone got hurt.. at least i hope not.. but there were fire trucks and stuff coming ..

bah, no one hurt? not that bad! 😛

I was covering a memorial day parade couple years ago during an internship for a paper in ohio. About 15 minutes prior to the start of the parade, the wrangler pulling the fire department float broke a fuel line and burst on fire. Kinda funny, in retrospect, to see both firemen in the jeep jump out and run away. 🙂 In the meantime, a cop got an extinguisher from his cruiser and put it out. I LMAO'd at that.
 
similar story, my friend had lent his car to some idiots I guess, they abused it, and didnt know how to shift, redlined it, etc (he didnt find this out till afterwards), and on his way home from college there was an explosion in the front, parts went flying out of the car, and popped his tire, and there was a flame under the hood.... crazy

 
I watched a VW bug driving in the fast lane hit the center divider fly up in the air upside down. I was 2 lanes over 20 yds behind them.

The back caught on fire as it was in the air. Landed on the hood upside down back on fire with a trail of fire behind it.

It skided for a good 30-40 yds before it stopped. There were two dudes in the car looked like they both survived.

They were climbing out the windows as i was driving by. Wild crash that VW went pretty high in the air.

 
had a similar incident. got some engine work done by a dealer a fe years back. 2 days back from the shop, i was driving to tahoe and pulled over to get something at a safeway. got out of the car and noticed smoke coming out of the hood. opened it and the engine was on fire. to make a long story short, it was an electrical fire. the mechanic changed a wire and it was too small (gauge wise). luckily there was a dealership right next door. eplained what happened and they repaired everything for free. only thing was, it was the weekend and their shop wasn't open. had to drive halfway back to tahoe 3 days later to pick the car up.
 
The other day the radio reported a traffic accident in South San Jose where a pedestrian was hit by a car on the Tully overpass over 101.. she was knocked onto the freeway and struck by another car... I do not know if she survived (she was rushed to hospital, so at least she wasn't dead on the scene..)
