I have listened to focus on the family radio for years but never met James Dobson nor heard him in person. He spoke about the importance of marriage and how the winner of the marriage battle will also win the children.

Apparently the supreme court wants to interpret the constitution as having an unspoken, unwritten right for same sex marriage, despite overwhelming majoritys in all states that have had votes to the contrary.

Oligarchy?

The speech was moving and fact filled.

Just thought you might be interested.

Actually, yes. He gave away 8,000 copies of "marriage under fire." I was there early so I read all 116 pages. His book is more than conjectured or opinion, it is carefully researched and footnoted, something you don't see much today. Here's a few quotes:

Only a constitutional amendment will protect marriage against judicial tyranny. Don't let anyone tell you differently. Congressmen and senators understand this fact very well. You might want to ask them why they won't admit it.

Finally, Members of Congress who don't want to take the heat from you are claiming they are still "undecided" about the Federal Marriage Amendment. They are trying to have it both ways. The polls are telling them that their constituencies are decidedly pro-marriage and pro-family, but they are afraid of criticism by the liberal media and attacks from the gay activists. Thus, they equivocate. They are holding their breath and hoping the issue will go away. It won't.

One of the most eye opening stats was that there are over 10,000 studies that show that kids fare better with a mom and a dad that are deeply committed to each other.

Another statement was that homosexuals don't want marriage for themselves really, they want marriage abolished totally. That way, they can be free to engage in their typical non-monagmous relations whilst having the right to harbor children without consequence or judgement.

The implications for children in a world of decaying families are profound. Because homosexuals are rarely monogamous, often having as many as three hundred or more partners in a lifetime--some studies say it is typically more than one thousand--children in those polyamorous situations are caught in a perpetual coming and going. It is devastating to kids, who by their nature are enormously conservative creatures.

One more:

We must consider a world of the future where immorality is even more rampant than today, where unbridled homosexual and heterosexual liaisons are the norm. The apostle Paul described such a society in the book of Romans, referring apparently to ancient Rome: "They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless." (1:29-31)

It appears likely now that the demise of families will accelerate this type of decline dramatically, resulting in a chaotic culture that will rip kids apart emotionally.

There's so very much more. The rally lasted more than the 2 hours I was there. I had to get home to see the little ones before they went to sleep.

Any questions?

Oligarchy?
is the only difference between rulings against racism and rulings against the traditional definition of marriage that there are constitutional amendments intended to end racism?

I wonder how many partners a heterosexual single parent might have in a lifetime....

I don't doubt that. What about kids with a mom and dad who argue and fight incessantly and then divorce. Are they better off?

Evidence? How did he/you arrive at that notion?

LOL, too funny.

Blacks are beginning to get very angry at the homosexual movement that make the "discrimination" claim.

Being born black is very unlike being gay. There is no "leaving the black life or lifestyle." There are however, thousands that have left the homosexual lifestyle and talk about how liberating it is.

Right it's all choice, and people choose to be gay. I guess you had that choice and decided on women, but you could have gone for a guy right? But chose girls just to be on the side of God?

I wonder how many of those people just abstain from sex or at least Homosexual sex but are still sexually attracted to others of the same sex? Not engaging in Homosexual sex doesn't mean that they are not Homosexual.

I would say that I chose women because it was how I was designed. Circumstances in each homosexual's life have an impact (according to them) that made the same sex much more attractive or filled a need or abused them. At least that's what I've read.

And what of the mom and the dad that aren't deeply committed? What of the single parent families?

What? I call "Baloney Sandwiches" on this one, knowing many homosexuals, including several who have gone through with marriage and/or committment ceremonies.

Again, I'm calling B.S. I believe in my heart that a gay couple can indeed provide a good, stable, nurturing family. I know a both a gay and lesbian couple who have each been raising a child from birth. The boy (lesbian couple), for example, is an amazing, funny, kind, young 12-year-old.

I've heard plenty stories of the bathhouses of the 70's and 80's so I do know that yes, there are some highly promiscuous, non-monogamous folks out there. Color me crazy, but I know similar heterosexuals.

Not to say that I completely disagree, I just consider this an extreme scare-tactic.

The research doestn't support your ideas, notions or impressions. You call BS. Well, I'm not here to convince you, I'm reporting what I heard and what I've read in his book, which is pretty much his speech to the crowd last night. The research by the groups that are pro-homosexual indicate much of what is espoused above. The alan guttmacher institute for example, cites that homosexual men are very promiscous and that non-monogamous relationships are the exception, not the rule.

Based on that, the possibility of providing a stable home environment to any child is impossible. Heather has two daddies. No wait, three daddies, no wait, 4 daddies.....oh my, poor heather is confused by all the addies.

I'm not being pollyannish here when I recite that a man and woman deeply committed...is the norm. But the average marriage lasts 15 years. The average homosexual union lasts 18 months. Which is better for kids?

300 to 1000 partners hmm...So lets see..the average homosexual has a different partner once a week for between 6 to 20 years. Do you realize how insane that is? Of course they never have a relationship or anything more than simple need-gratification. You fundies really think that these people are nothing more than humping bunny rabbits don't you? Hate the sin love the sinner my a*s. You can't back this kind of statement up with one or two examples, because Dobson is making a generalization to the entire gay community.

When the smoke clears it'll be religious bigotry that detroyed the world, not homosexuality.

Those numbers are from the guttmacher institute, not dobson. The fact of their relationships or their promiscuity angers you? Or is it that we don't want our children exposed to their behavior.
