Saw an ad for Netscape internet service this weekend.

Someone explain to me what the story here is. Is this just AOL marketting a cheaper service without all the "frills" (the quotes are for sarcasm) or what? Or is it more like Saturn, which until recently had some modicum of independence from GM?

Also, how does a "browser accelerator" work exactly?

No and the accelerator works by on the fly compresion of images and of course cache.
