it's HUGE! The rig was pretty big the guy was running.

He had the evf, monitor, battery pack, 320GB hd, rail system and handles. It looks pretty dam immense.

I wonder how Scarlet will turn out :D

Wow, that's like seeing Santa for us camera geeks :D

I'm really ridiculously excited about the Scarlet. The 3K resolution alone will be amazing for stabilizing filters, cropping, and digital zooming without resolution loss. Plus I can use all of my Nikon lenses!

It was sweet man. I've never seen one before in person. The guy had a anti weight rigg or whatever you call it and it took 70% of the system off his shoulders.

I'm really excited about the new models...I hope that Final Cut Studio 3 comes out this year with better RED support. Software is their biggest issue right now, so if they can get that issue licked before they release the prosumer-grade stuff, they'll really give themselves a leg up. Otherwise people are going to buy Scarlet in droves and then freak out when they see the software workflow ;)

I'm kind of excited about the RED lenses too...I'm curious to see how they compare to PL lenses and even to Canon & Nikon lenses. I think the EPIC will be a real gamechanger in Hollywood....the RED started it, but with the enhanced features and accessories (and hopefully wider availability with increased production capacity!) I think it will really take off.

My biggest problem now is convincing my wife that we *need* a Scarlet :D

don't forget that with the scarlet, if you use any nikon/canon/other camera system mounts, everything becomes manual focus! (and I'm sure manual exposure also, but we're all use to manual exposures)

That will kind of limit the dSLR functionality, I would think. Maybe they'll surprise us and hook up autofocus for the final release :D

additionally, the FF sensor is gonna be EXPENSIVE! like 10k+, the rest of the "mysterium" sensors are 1/3" CMOS. I'm fine with manual focus, but give us some kind of "rangefinder" focus help inside the view finder or the LCD.

It uses levers to take weight off your body/ hands...

The film nuts use manual focus...this is why I'm more interested in teh Scarlet with the fixed lense. It 'may' have autofocus. If not that will seriously hamper my buying decision :p

Scarlet is 2/3" and it only goes p from there and with the savage price hikes. It isn't built for consumers. It's built for production teams, rich dudes and not soccer mums. Well if the soccer mums can put up with the cost of $3k for the scarlet or $3750 for 'kit' and then the work flow!

If it sucks and is overly complicated then its too much hassle for me :p
