Hahahah, thats awesome. I hate tail-gaiters, although, I'd never do something like this.

Oh yea, what does "Hispanic" have to do with anything? Why didnt you state the race of the Ranger guy?

Wait so you are giving a guy props for smashing someones car with absolutely no justification? If he was tail gating while they were driving, that's one reason to be mad (but still no reason to damage their car), but sitting at a fucking stop light? Are you kidding me? Sometimes you people are so pathetic.

The guy in the ranger was out of line, and the "hispanic" in the neon should learn how to drive. I should have rephrased my post, because I knew someone would get sensitive about it and interpret it wrong. Im not condoning what the Ranger guy did. I just found his actions to be a bit humerous and a little satisfying.

When I stop at a light, and someone pulls up right behind my damn bumper, yes, I get irked and a little pissed because if that person is hit in the rear, they end up hitting me in the rear. Pulling up behind someone's ass is not showing the driver ahead of you any consideration or regard. So yes, I did grin when I read this post, although the ranger guy is an idiot.

Where the hell do you live? People always pull up right behind other cars at stop lights, you're just an absolute moron. Drivers like you are the biggest POS on the roads, you act like everyone should give your car massive amounts of space and respect as you drive around in your POS '95 Civic.

Exactly. You have no way of knowing if they heard and saw everything that you did. You also don't know if they're going to be unreachable for follow up.

If you have any interest in doing the right thing, you'll go down to the police station, tell them the who/when/where of the accident so they can find it, and then give a full statement of what you witnessed.

Yup.

Leaving the scene was a dick move.

Probably was a good idea to leave. If a guy will ram someone behind him for getting to close at a stop light, no telling what he will do if you filled a damning report against him. I would rather be a living coward than a dead hero.

If you can't see the bottom of the tires of the car in front of you, you're too close.

OP really should have stuck around... if I were in that situation (neon), I'd want two independent witnesses for sure. This wasn't a traffic accident, this probably qualifies as assault. The Ranger dude is obviously messed up in the head, and you have two guys and a woman (I'm assuming couple = man and woman). Better to have 3 guys there in case he wigs out.

Sorry, apparently I've completely screwed up this story. I stated he was hispanic so you could imagine a hispanic man screaming at someone instead of whatever else it was you might be imagining. Didn't mean anything by it.

Your username is ironic in the context of your post.

At some lights, you're being inconsiderate if you don't pull up more, because the lane will fill up if you leave too much space. I've seen turn-off lanes fill up and we left a minimalistic amount of space between each vehicle.

And wow, some of you guys are being incredibly harsh on the OP . If someone makes a mistake, there's no problem in alerting them to it, but being a douche bag yourself over it isn't warranted.

Don't worry so much about it, you weren't derogatory in any way, merely descriptive, you even managed to use a politically correct term. I'm about as equal-rights minded as it gets, and I wasn't offended.

Still, you shouldn't have left :p

QFT

When you're at a stop, who cares how close someone is behind you. The guy in the ranger is a prick. And you're a loser for not staying to at least provide the guy in the neon your name and number to be a witness.

any verbal abuse he gets is deserved. not to mention nobody is saying anything other then the truth about him. he is a fucking coward.

The light turned green and I took off. I didn?t want to be part of that one freaking bit. I might have hung around to help the neon tell the real story if it weren?t for the joggers that saw it and stuck around. But thinking about it, what would happen in a situation like that when the witnesses aren?t there?
What if the joggers thought the same thing? You should have stuck around, imo, unless you were in a hurry.

There's a left turn lane on my way to work that can fit 7-9 cars bumped to bumper. if it backs up it blocks several other minor intersections (mainly because people are asshats and stop in the intersection, instead of before it, but they do that because other people are bigger asshats and get as far up as they can on the right before trying to squeeze into the front of a line of 20+ cars), and also blocks the left lane of a 2 lane street while they try to get into the left turn lane.

As long as you aren't flying along at 60 mph, slamming your brakes at the last minute, and coming within inches of my car, I don't care where you are at a stoplight.

I would have called him an illegal alien. It makes for more interesting threads...lol.

And FWIW, I'd have also left the scene. It sounded like 2 a$$holes being jerks to one another, so let them deal with it themselves.

Sounds to me like they both acted dumb.

The dude in the Ranger yells to the neon ?you better back that shit up before I knock that bumper off!? and next I hear from the neon tell the guy to turn around and stfu.

I don't see any bragging going on in his post... he's more like, "what kind of idiot purposely backs up into someone like that?" If that's bragging then damn, now I know why people think I tend to take an elitist tone :p.

Saying something dumb is one thing but assaulting someone else with their truck is another.

So I was driving in the left lane when the sun was setting yesterday going pretty fast and had to slow down hard to stop at a yellow to red light. The ford ranger next to me did the same thing and he was blaring some pretty loud Red Hot Chili Peppers with his windows down. We were the only ones heading that direction on a normal intersection. A white neon comes out from a close neighborhood while we are at the light and pulls up right behind the truck. I look over when I hear that the Ranger has turned down his music and is looking behind him at the neon. He wasn?t using his rear view mirrors, just looking straight back at the car. That?s when I realize that the neon is right on his ass, like a foot and a half away. Then shit gets ugly?

The dude in the Ranger yells to the neon ?you better back that shit up before I knock that bumper off!? and next I hear from the neon tell the guy to turn around and stfu. All of a sudden, the ranger kicks it in reverse and without hesitation floors it into the back of the neon!!!! I couldn?t freaking believe it! So they both get out of the car and the Hispanic looking dude in the neon starts going off on the Ranger guy and all I hear from the Ranger dude is ?I don?t know what you?re talking about, you just pulled up and hit my truck.? It?s the craziest thing I?ve ever seen! He played it off like the neon hit HIM! There was a couple jogging that got into also and they definitely saw what really happened, so this dude is screwed with witnesses.

The light turned green and I took off. I didn?t want to be part of that one freaking bit. I might have hung around to help the neon tell the real story if it weren?t for the joggers that saw it and stuck around. But thinking about it, what would happen in a situation like that when the witnesses aren?t there? The cops would come and would look at the damage. The dude in the Ranger would probably calmly explain that he was just sitting at a light when bam, he?s hit from behind. The dude in the neon would probably go nuts trying to tell the true story and all in all, the cop wouldn?t be able to tell what really happened.

Who the hell would try to pull a stunt like that just to piss someone off?

Interesting.

You witnessed a crime and post it online but have not turned in your report to the police?

You've committed a crime yourself.

I don't really see any bragging from his post. He posts the event as he saw it and choose to remove himself from the situation because he feels uncomfortable/unsafe in getting involve.
If the guy, as you stated, willing to use the car as a deadly weapon the likely hood he will escalate to bodily harm to some nosy stranger is high.
