Saw a Fisker Karma in the wild

A very good looking vehicle. Passed me on Las Olas on my way to work today. It was in white and had quite the presence on the road. I imagine it is owned by someone local...so hopefully I'll get a picture of it soon.

Clearly the car is flawed and is a giant compromise...but cool nonetheless with none of the compromises being in the looks department. It will be interesting to see what happens to the car/company in the long term.

Random picture from internet...

it looks like three different cars mashed up into one big long...thing. unfortunately i like the styling, but i'd never pay for one of those. does it look as big in person as it does in photos?

There are a couple on the road around here, and a dealer that sells them locally too. Why there is a dealer in the Rochester area is beyond me...

Seen a few around.. There's a dealership down the street and the parent company must also deal with McLaren as it looks likes the building is combined.. I've seen a few MP4-12Cs on the road too. They had an F1 on display that was drool-worthy a while ago.. Think they have an F1 car now instead.

Yeah, seems to be a decent car, although the powertrain is lacking, IMO. Its not awful, but it just doesn't suit the car (you'll be hearing that 4 cylinder straining far too often).

I actually think it has too long of a hood, it throws the proportions of the car off (just needs to be shortened a few inches, nothing major). That'd be forgivable if it had a big engine placed behind the front wheels for weight distribution, but it doesn't. Or if it had a turbine and they put a bunch of sound deadening to quiet it.

Too bad the company is having issues. I like them more than Tesla, but quite frankly I wouldn't buy from either company.

It definitely had a road presence. From the front, it just looked low and mean. I'm sure if I took a good look at it in profile...I would have felt like it went on forever. Definitely good looking in my opinion.

Yes, I'm sure Karma owners would just keep driving on gasoline and not care if the battery didn't work anymore... 😛

Come to think of it...if the engine didn't kick in before the battery died completely...then it could brick and not work as my understanding is that the engine just recharges the battery and has no direct connection to the running gear.

No matter what...the car has some design presence. A Ferrari is probably just as likely to stop work for various reasons as this thing is to brick.

They had one on display at the Canadian International Auto Show, which I went to on Monday. Blurry cam pic ahoy! It was so packed I couldn't get a good picture. It's definitely a sexy car, especially for an electric. Sure puts the iMEIV they had upstairs to shame.

On that note, they also had a Tesla Roadster and Tesla Model S on display. Here's the former.

Rochester has (or had) one of highest densities of millionaires in the country, owing to Kodak raising much of its startup capital from locals. Hopefully they sold their stock before Kodak tanked. But I digress...

Very cool looking car.

Fisker brought a concept Karma to the DC Auto Show in 2010.

I had the pleasure of talking with Fisker himself for a good 5-10 minutes. I even congratulated him on the Z8 and Aston design.

I love how low the roofline is. Saw one in December on a dealer's back lot still covered in shipping plastic. The design reminds a bit of the Maserati Quattroporte, another of my favorite sedans looks wise.

5 "bricked" Teslas out of 2200 sold. Problem? Please.

How many morons never change their oil in gasoline car and "bricks" them.

Why are you asking me? I didn't write the article.

However, owners of conventional cars can be expected to know about changing their oil and engine damage. These things are clearly explained in their owner's manual, and are also generally known.

The possible Tesla battery discharge problem is apparently not too clearly mentioned anywhere.
