I was on my way into the store today and couldn't help but notice this 69 shelby gt500 convertible mustang that was parked in a lot. I stopped and took a couple photos and the owner came out and we chatted for a minute. Turns out that it's an original numbers-matching gt500 ... horrifically, he restores cars as a hobby and then ebays them -- this will no doubt fetch a pretty penny. So, here are the photos, thought some of ya'll might appreciate them.

Cool.

My pops used to have a '68 GT350 convertible. I think he sold it for next to nothing with only 14k on the clock, this was back then though..

Wonder what he had to do to it? I also wonder if it may have been worth more before he messed with it.

The interior looks too plasticy.

I used to see these things all the time in my youth. Now what are they worth? $100K+

Cool but the guy who owns it is stupid. Why would you have a car like that out in the winter when there is obviously salt on the roads (there is snow present in the pics).

We don't salt here in Colorado, and the roads have been clear for quite a while.

then you should be glad I didn't put up the pics of the way my truck is parked ... I almost went over the curb in my mad brake-slamming, wheel-turning attempt to stop in time to not miss the pony.

Nice hobby to have. I wonder what kind of profits he makes off that.

A lot. He has a Dodge SRT10 (the one with the Viper engine) that you can't quite see in the pics. His next project car is a 70 (?) hemicuda.

I realize the roads are clear but the salt remains for a long time. What do they use in Colorado then?

sand

edit and here in the springs, they're really good about cleaning the roads off asap. Lots of nice cars on the road, even in the winter.

You are CORRECT, sir!

Hey, OP, where'd you get the idea this is a '69?
