Saving Windows 7 search results

Haven't found a solution to this problem.

Run Windows search to look for specific file extension
(mainly *.iso)

Would like to save the search results so it want have to rescan the entire computer every time
ie:I got a lot of ISO's and a lot of drives so it takes a long time

Any ideas?

Other than that, I guess you could:

- Export the results to a text file
- Export a shortcut of each file to a specific directory
- Drag/Move all the related files to the same directory (what I normally do)

Unfortunately "Save Search" only saves the "look for all the *.iso files" idea.
Then it proceeds to repeat the same search from the beginning - which takes forever

Would like to have all the previous search results instantly pop up again in File Manager
instead of having it rerun the same search from the beginning again

I did find a 3rd party program that allowed to export results to a text file
where you can pick a delimiter like space or commas but just not good enough
-another 1st world problem I guess :)

Have you considered adding each drive to the search index so it is much faster for next time? I can search my entire computer for a certain file name and it comes up with a search result in a matter of 5 seconds. Just a thought...

Well that did help alot - adding specific folders within each drive to the index
the search runs pretty quick now

Windows gives some screwed up messages:
Searches might be slow in non-indexed locations Click to add drive to index

then as soon as you add a drives it says:
Indexing slowed due to user activity :rolleyes:

What kind of hardware do you have, if you have a slow computer then start the indexing process before you go to sleep and let it run overnight, or do it before your afternoon nap.
