He's even got an anti-religion signature. Walking cliche.
My signature is merely an all too accurate description of religion, any religion.

It is the truth, and obviously you can't handle the truth.

It's not a truth, it's an opinion. Learn the difference. Also, morons running around blaming everything on Trump, yawn. Excuses for everything. The conspiracy theory is just lame.

Prove me wrong, show me with empirical proof where good people have not committed atrocities and religion was their excuse.

Lets start with all the priests sodomizing children!

The problem that caused this mess was congress and the method and rate of funding pensions. That is what needs to be changed.

President Trump threatened the U.S. Postal Service on Friday, claiming that if it didn't raise its shipping prices then he wouldn't approve of the $10 billion loan currently in the works for the struggling agency. "The Post Office is a joke," Trump said, as reported by The Washington Post. "The Post Office should raise the price [of package delivery] four times … If they don't raise the price, I'm not signing anything."

F'em. Ordered something on the 5th. Seller shipped it 1st Class Mail on 6th. Been in Atlanta since the 7th. And no signs of it ever being delivered to my local annex, let alone to me. Even their tracking system seems to have lost tracking on the package. Oh, they'll have no problem delivering those bulk rate items that litter the place, but a 1st class mail can go fuck itself. Four business days sitting in one location. Thank you, asshats (ahem, USPS).

they'll probably need to get rid of the pensions to fix the problem

employees are going to be screwed, but that's going to happen a lot with pensions everywhere

It's classic government employees.

While I agree USPS has its uses - things like the pension problem and the fact that most USPS employees are overpaid in general need to stop if you want to fix the problem. The USPS is filled with morons and even power trippy morons if you have ever visited a post-office.

Everyone has seen the memes such as below - because the post office has a reputation for shit work with shit employees. They don't care because getting fired is practically impossible.

I agree though, we need to increase rates - because they should have to compete with UPS/FedEx. A lot less people would use USPS if they actually had to price packages accordingly.

That's fair. My employment has me interfacing with UPS mostly, but also FedEx. Personally I choose USPS.

Both UPS and FedEx have trouble finding packages more often IMXP than USPS.

I have extensive interfacing time with UPS. They are a fucking mess most of the time. Packages simply don't show up, drivers don't deliver and say nobody was there while I'm sitting there waiting for them lol.

They're customer service is a atrocious. In my area, UPS started closing their customer care centers and reducing hours of operation. Sites that used to be open from 10am-6pm and now open for pickup at ridiculous times, such as 8:30pm-9:00pm. That's right, 30 minutes a day. Go there and the line is like 20 peeps deep. That's just one example, each site is different.

FedEx has their own issues, but I dont have to work with them as much

Of course, our experiences will vary. I choose USPS for price and reliability.

The capitalism driven services aren't exactly up to snuff either.

Oliver did a main piece on it.

Perhaps you can riddle this for me...

How exactly is the USPS supposed to make money by offering checking/savings accounts?

On the face of it - a checking/savings account doesn't make money. It's only after the USPS takes that money and makes interest on it through investments or loans that a bank makes money.

So.... Oliver never mentioned it, but is he suggesting that USPS then start doing loans? Because... yeah no lol.

Why yea no? You'd rather 1/4 of Americans get take over the coals by payday lenders?

Why couldn't they function in the way Oliver mentioned?

Back in 2006, or so, I was trying to send someone a check across Atlanta. I wanted to send it USPS Priority Mail, but the postal clerk talked me out of it for regular 1st Class Mail. Some six weeks later the check got delivered. Six weeks! I had already hand delivered a replacement check after the first week went by. The recipient took a picture of the 1st Class Mail when he got it and it looked like it had been around the world and maybe even off planet. I should have learned my lesson but I had no say in how the current item was shipped.

Sure - they can function like Oliver mentioned... he mentioned checking/savings accounts... he did not mention loans/investments. Just having a bank for depositing and withdrawing money doesn't equal profit - quite the opposite infact.

Do you know why people go to payday lenders? Its because they are fucking dumb people that don't have credit and no bank (or person/friend for that matter) would lend to and expect to receive money back. Hell @highland145 can probably confirm/deny for me there.

I figured this would be your reply. You answered your own questions and called people dumb. Guess what, the war on education has consequences.

I’ve shipped well over a hundred items and plenty of first class letters with USPS since 2006 and have had a problem exactly zero times. Anecdotal bullshit is great isn’t it?

Anyone can give anecdotal evidence obviously - because its the best source we have because we verified it ourselves.

Hell, if anything I think the meme I posted above is some of the best evidence as well. That is a reflection of what society in general has experienced.

But here is my anecdotal recently for kicks: Had a package that was shipping from CA to me in TX via Fedex. Fedex handed off to USPS when it got here locally in TX. USPS then reported it was out for delivery - and even reported that it was delivered VIA USPS PICKUP. That alone doesn't make sense. A package doesn't go out for delivery and then get picked up at the post office. It wasn't delivered, nor tried to be delivered.. USPS then (for whatever reason) did a return to sender. Now they are wasting an entire trip back to CA because there is zero accountability for fucking dumb government employees. I have never seen anything remotely close to this kind of equivalency with UPS/Fedex.

The Post Office is actually in good shape if you remove the $161 billion in unfunded future obligations.

Congress in 2006 forced the Post Office to pre-fund 75 years post-retirement healthcare costs over a 10 year period. Something that no company can actually do. This was done to kill off the Post Office by dumb politicians.

The Post Office actual debt is $13.2 Billion (2018)....down from $15 Billion in 2017.

The Post Office can't raise it's prices without Congress approval and they don't live off of taxes either.

The Post Office is forced to deliver to 100% of homes....they can't cherry pick like Fedex and UPS.

Fedex & UPS still use the Post Office to make final deliveries to areas they don't serve.

The Post Office has 600,000 employees.

----

I personally like the Post Office and don't want to pay $5 to send a first class letter. They also ship packages at lower rates.

This is the part most people don't realize. When I hear President Blumpkin saying crap like this because he hates Jeff Bezos, my blood gets boiling. If anything, Amazon is keeping the USPS afloat:

I've never had problems with the USPS, but I know this statement is as much bullshit as all of those saying they have had problems. It's one of the government-sponsored organizations that actually does things (mostly) right.

I'm torn on this one... Amazon obviously doesn't pay the USPS enough in postage to be profitable, but then if you force them to increase postage rates, then you're going to force Amazon to beef up their own internal delivery service. Who knows, they might even start offering to deliver other packaging and become a competitor to UPS and FedEx.

By sending tweets like this, Trump might end up creating the equivalent of "AWS for packages" and put the postal service in even a tougher spot.

@s0me0nesmind1 @ch33zw1z Payday lenders serve a purpose for people that need them whatever the reason may be. 390%APR but keep in mind that their losses are 45%+. That's their clientele and no garnishment in my state so no real recourse to collect. I prefer to not deal with that.

The idea of the USPS making loans is idiotic. They can hardly sell me stamps. They sure as hell aren't going to try and actually collect $$. It will just be another government handout.

Your opinion is that Trump would allow the USPS to fail.
My opinion is that Trump would not allow the USPS to fail.

Do you see the problem here? Opinions are like yada yada ...

(1) I agree Trump will not allow the USPS to fail.

(2) He absolutely would do it to prevent online voting for the "masses" if he thought he could get away with it.

You are correct about this ... we all know what opinions are like and that everyone's got one. We also are aware that moron's are in good supply everywhere. (not implying anyone here is one however)

Having said that, I'm almost 60 and in MY opinion Trump is by far the worst President in my lifetime. My father had 2 doctorates in teaching and in history from Columbia... shortly before he passed away he cried over the prospect of the man being elected. I'm actually glad he's not around to see what America has become.

Anyone defending our President right now based on the actual results of his actions is awfully difficult to take seriously.
