Seasme street was awsome when I was a kid and now I love to watch all of NOVA's programs (my favorite being The Elegant Universe).

If you think PBS is still worth while, please check out this link.

We need to cut social programs for old people. If you didn't save up a nice pension in your prime than why should we (the tax payers) have to support you?

I actually like the fact that there are no commercials and that they try to appease their viewers and not a big company. Most of their money comes from viewers, the government only gives a small % of their annual budget. If you want to whine and comment about it there is a thread in P&N.

Public television should not be political. PBS is too political therefore should not be funded by the taxpayers...

there are a lot of art programs that I would like to see cut, too.

Food and medicine for poor kids is a lot more important to me.

We need to cut down on social programs, but completely getting rid of things like Social Security just isn't feasable right now. Solving that will take a generation or two of transition into private investment and savings.

The money that's given to schools needs to be budgetted and spent better by the public school system.

Is NASA really that important? I don't think it's important enough to get such a freaking huge budget alotment by the feds. Cut back fed spending on NASA and give it to schools.

PBS needs to gain more private funding.

Yes, Bert and Ernie clearly represent the gay agenda and the Snuffleupagus must represent big business and how it's eating up all the "Cabage".

Yeah because Harry Potter is much more valuable than watching all those great science shows.

Is 3 2 1 contact still on?

Unfortunately no. TV is an incredible learning tool. Children just need to watch the right shows. :)

it is not political. unless you think not promoting homophobia and creationism is unbalanced:p

thats like forcing a science channel to promote flat earth theory for "balance".

oh, frontline is also awesome.

pbs is a wonderful public service, our nation would definetly be worse without it. commercial "science/education" channels like discovery are rather dumbed down.

and really, not everything is for profit. how about we cut loose funding for government research, the military, education, nasa , public libraries, public schools, public museums(f*ck the Smithsonian!), public parks, natioanl parks.. ...have everything be funded by donations and commercial enterprise:p tahts the ticket:p

Food and medicine for poor kids is a lot more important to me.

we grow more then enough food to feed everyone in america. much rots on the ground or vine to keep prices up. its not a matter of much money, just legislation. and well..nasa takes money away from feeding starving children!! heh

really, pbs/npr's budget is a drop in the bucket compared to the real financial problems of social security and medicare. politicians only bring it up to distract from their real incomptence. don't fall for it.

i wonder how many of you people saying no to pbs go to public university right now eh? you know how much that would cost without massive government subsidy? education would be limited to the aristocrisy.

Save PBS! I never even liked PBS until I got my DVICO FusionHDTV5 Lite... now, when there is no HD on, I can throw it on the many OTA PBS channels in Los Angeles and find at least two programs in HD.
