OK, I've got a new hard drive which I want to install this evening. I've decided for once to pull my head out of my ass before I install it and ask people who know a question that I'm sure will cause me porblems. Right, here it is:
I've currently got a 30 gig hdd in my computer. I've just got a new 80gig one, which is completely blank. The old one has windows xp on it, but I want to use the new one as the drive with the operating system on. However, I want to do a fresh install of xp rather than copying the curent install across with all the affiliated crap it has. On the other hand, I want to keep a load of the files I have on the old hdd. Is it possible for me to leave the onld one as it is with xp installed, remove it, install the new one and put xp on it (I have no problem with this), and then ONCE it is installed, put the old one back in as slave even thought it will still have xp on it, boot from the new one and copy the files across before formatting the old hdd? Or will my computer have problems with having an operating system installed on bot hard disks once I slap the old one back in as slave and not let me access the old one?
Replies before I wade on in and screw the whole thing up would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Pete
