Since the Free food Thread was taken away here is something that will save live and also money on Tickets if you absolutly have to drink and drive. At Walmart here in Fort Worth I saw a Personal BAC (Blood-Alcohol Content) reader that was palm size. I didnt really look at it cause I just laughed when I saw it. It was $29.95 and for that price I think spending $30 to save yourself from a DWI and possibly a traffic accident is well worth it. I didnt see it on their website so this for right now is a B&M only item. I saw it in the Automotive Section.
Thanks,

I agree but it looks like 630,000 people last year didnt get that info and were in a drunk driving accident.

don't drink? Not a chance :)

And I don't have a car anyway, so I guess I don't have to worry about driving :p

Nope just about getting hit by someone who can't restrain themselves.

Bouncers should have these and test people on the way out...

i think we should be real supportive of this guy. . .becuase i know some people are gonna come here and be like:
"man, you're just inviting people to get drunk,"
just like some parents say that free condoms are an invitation for kids to have sex. . .

well, i know your intent is good, and it will be a worthy piece of equip to have if you're the type that drinks like that. . .it is not an invitation to drink until you're jsut under the legal BAC, its a headsup to people, and a safegaurd, so that even if you only had that one shot of tequila, you can be sure you're not totally f-ed up. . .

i appreciate this post, really i do.

thank you very much for putting some safer drivers on the road. . .

there is, however, a counterpoint in that people who are drunk (but not above the legal BAC) . . .might try to drive. . .if, and when, they get into an accident, the law won't be able to punish them; they're under the BAC . . .

take it as you will. . .

Sonic625 - Nice Post!!

I drink copiously, and drive extensively - just not at the same time.
I used to (20+ years ago) do both together often - fortunately with no problems.

Most people who are really too drunk to drive are also too drunk to heed a meter that tells them that they are.
The same as they won't listen to their friends

There are devices that hook up to a car's ignition system that make you enter a code on a calculator type pad in a prescribed time, or the car won't start.
Then you sit there for a while and try again (and again.....) until you are sober enough to remember the code and have regained the coordination to enter it in the allowed time.
I wish I had a price or Manufacturer, but I don't.

The law defines drunk as being 'over' the BAC limit - if you are not over that limit, then you are not legally drunk.
The BAC limit in many states is being lowered as we speak (type?) !!

LOL, I didnt even see that, Yeah, some people see this as condoning Drinking and Driving, but I say Dont Do it, I dont drink myself so I have absolutly no use for it. Anyone that does drink and drive is putting themselves and everyone on the road at that time and I am worried about them hitting me more than anything. Oh yeah, I have changed my Original posts spelling.
Thanks,

Two quick things for Cyberian and Pnklytnyng:

The also have "breathalyzers" that connect to your ignition and require you to blow into it to start the car. Been used locally by courts for drunk drivers who have "limited" driving rights.

Also - most (most likely all) states' DWI laws have two prongs - either over the BAC limit or that the drivers mental and physcical faculties were sufficiently impaired blah blah blah. So just because your BAC is below the "legal limit" you can still be convicted

Just a thought..or two

fact: I drink. a lot sometimes.
fact: eventually I will be driving again.
big-azz fact: I would really appreciate knowing by BAL when I am sober again. you just can't trust your own feelings. you aren't necessarily sober after you lose your buzz and *SEEM* to be able to walk straight and got your equilibrium all back.

saying "don't drink" is like telling us not to have sex. it is fun. people do it.

good find, buddy. thanks. I may just have to hit that shop up. I'm going to a carne bbq this weekend and bringing my comp... gotta keep the comp. safe :D

seriously tho... I once waited until 5 in the morning to drive home, my last drink being at 1.

if you don't get this little jobby, do what I do and make DAMN SURE you are sober. coffee doesn't sober you up. eating bread and other stuff like that helps, but time is the only thing that really works.

you are dead right that these encourage MORE drinking.

one floor in my dorm spent their floor money on one of these, and the underagers had a contest, whoever blew the highest without throwing up got to keep the device at the end of the year.

the winner blew over 3.5 (near death) he is a true winner.

Well, I don't know if that is called encouraged drinking, I think that is called stupidity, Anyone who drinks themselves to near death for a $30 device is either mentally not there or poor. Now I know this is the hot deals and we all are looking for the cheapest way to get thing, I think by no means we are poor, we are just cautious buyers.
