Save for PS2 or Buy GF3 Ti200

I have to make a choice. Ethier to blow all my money on a GF3 Ti 200 video card ( replacing my voodoo3 2000 PCI) or wait until summer when i can afford PS2.

One of the main reasons i want PS2 is GTA3...but since its coming out for computer in april, ps2 might be useless. But i doubt my computer will be able to run GTA3 at a decent speed, and that is why i might choose the new video card. I currently have a athon TB 800mhz and Voodoo3 PCI and i dont want to run gta3 at 640X480 with lowest detail settings.

What should i do?
 
I have a PS2 and its a great machine

But I'd have to say buy the video card especially as GTA3 is one of the main reasons - as I think you could do more than just the minimal settings 🙂
 
Well if GTA3 is the ONLY thing your getting the PS2 for... forget it. If you'll play even one other game, GO FOR THE PS2 😀
 
how much do Ti500's run for?

I called Ingram Micro (Major US Distributor) and my account rep quoted me $340 on a Visiontek.
 
I think ebworld has a few used PS2's with madden 2001 and nhl2001 (from techbargains) for around 230
 
I would get the PS2 since you appear to be lacking in funds to upgrade new computer hardware every year or so, to run the newest games. The PS2 should be around for quite a while, however, so your dollar will be stretched much further.
 
Get a PS2. The assumption is that you'll buy a number of games ultimately, besides GTA3, and as such, by getting a PS2, you pretty much double your selection of games.

Hey there are a ton of great PC only titles coming out as well:

Planetside (I think this title might be PS2 also. Not sure)
Unreal 2
Freedom Fighter
Dungeon Siege
AOM
Star Wars (MMORPG) -and yes, its a PC only title.
World Craft (MMORPG) -and yes, PC only title

and many others.......

I know that he didn't mention any of these games, but I just had to let him know that there are going to be a lot of great PC only and PC ports coming out this year.

But even though I bought the GF3 TI200 (and it's a great card) I would go with the Gamecube
