You don't need to get the full service package for the 8100, it's good on any config just needs to be an online order.

I am probably going to order the 8100 from Dell later this evening (I was one of the ones who got the shaft at Buy.com on the Sony Vaio PCG-FX190, order was accepted then 2 days later cancelled). My question is; Is the 64MB ATI Radeon video upgrade worth the $99. Also, I noticed that the standard 8100 comes with the 15" Ultra XGA (not the Super VGA), is this right? Thanks

hmm, this is making me think twice about the best laptop deal right now

i thought the Inspiron 2650 was.....hmm
Mobile Pentium®4 processor,1.4 GHz-M 14.1 XGA
128MB 266MHz 2 Dimms
8MB DDR 4X AGP NVIDIA GeForce2 Go?Vid
20GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive
24X Max Variable CD-ROM Drive
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition
Integrated Network Card
Internal 56k Modem
1Yr Ltd. Warranty- 1Yr Mail-In Service + 1Yr Phone Support

all for $1300 shipped.

of course i qualify for mad discounts on that so my price to the door would be around $1200. No MIR.......hmm

I just ordered this laptop and am pretty excited. I opted for the 64MB video card and the 3 year warranty extension. It does have the UXGA screen which is 1600x1200 but is not the Ultra Sharp one that has a 400:1 ratio. Still a great screen and I'll live with the slightly duller screen and save the batter life. At the high resolution, I think the video upgrade is certainly worth it. Also, IMO ATI has better 2d graphics then Nvidia.

Dell just took of the SXGA option earlier today, so you must pay $70 more for the UXGA.
