I posted this in the hot deals section too

Savage Link

It was released last year around august and the company stopped supporting it. Unique game and very fun, good fps with rts built into the game. Can't believe its free now

Ok, this is one of the best hybrids ever made, but I have to warn you. There is one serious flaw in it. You will inevitably have a stupid commander. And there is nothing you can do about it. I think it's great if you know who you are playing with and you have a smart commander, it's a pretty fun game.

Oh and they are a bit wrong on that website. You never needed a unique cd-key to play. They had absolutely no security in place, no cd-checks at all.

You know what I'm a bit curious too. Their website still says you have to buy it. Just because a company stops supporting their product doesn't mean it's necessarily abandonware.

Ok I did a little digging. I still don't know if it's legal, but purchasing the game does no good. They no longer give you a cd-key, and they have completely removed the auth server that checked if you had a cd-key. In other words, they left the door open. Whether it's legal to go in or not, I have no clue. But that's between you and God at this point. Nobody is going to care, not even S2.

Well I guess the developers decided to continue to support it enough to have a forums still up, but beyond that they don't care anymore, they are working on a new game. You could always email them, they don't seem to ignore fans at all otherwise. The game is good and shows a team dedicated to making something fresh, in my opinion, so no doubt their next game will be good too.

I played it tonight. Seems decent enough game with some servers, but I would much rather have a whole clan dedicated to one of the teams in a game rather than random guys joining in. Its great for the freeness though  Plus people with older computers can play it too. Please spread the word if you like it, not only will more people play it but the company may look at making an updated game. Has great potential.

I say we start an AT clan, it's not hard to do.

This game is really fun! :D

It took a bit of digging to find all the patches I need for the linux version, though (there is no official 2.00e patch).

It looks interesting enough but I don't know if I would have enough time to join a clan.

I'm pretty sure you only need the second and last of those, though. You can download them here and here.

We should. Let me go ahead and get the feel for the game first, I would like a shot at being commander in a server. Give me a pm whenever so we can get an AT clan together :)

The 3dgamers server must be getting hammered. I'll keep trying.
Thanks for the links.
