No one ever mentioned this. It finally came out sometime this month. It's only $30. The only way is to purchase and download online.

But even better, there is a demo, which is the full game except has a 5 hour time limit. Now that's an awesome demo! That is a perfect way to give people a way to determine if they want to buy it or not. And at $30... it will be hard to resist if it is any good at all!

So I'm downloading it now.

Savage 1 was pretty damn cool. I was pretty bad at it and there was a lot of veteran players who tore me up. I could only play humans and even with them I sucked. But the idea was very cool so I have been interested in Savage 2 for a long time now.

I'll update once I play!

I played Savage 1 a lot, but I don't like the sequel as much. The servers are smaller and the classes are more set in stone - each class has specific weapons and items that you don't even need to buy. I'm gonna keep my demo time to see if bigger servers open up, then I'll make another judgment.

Sweet thanks! Gonna check this out for sure, I loved the original demo. Never did buy the full retail but I ripped it up pretty good on the demo servers. Repeater + Fat guy + big axe of doom ftw!

This kick-ass game is now FREE to download and play!

-------------------

Here is a FREE kick-ass online multiplayer game. It's first-rate and lots of fun. This is a melee-fighting style FPS that also has some RTS and RPG types of elements to it. It also has an active player community with an active discussion forum and IRC channel. At one point the game had clan activity and some of the clans are still around:

Here's a short YouTube video showing some of the game play:

Here's a link to a narrated clan match that you can watch from a spectator's perspective:

What I like about it is that I can find full servers--15 v 15 (and up) 24/7. It's great if you're looking to play something for 1/2 an hour. This isn't a crappy flash MMORPG, it's a bona fide game that you download just as though you had purchased a DVD. (In fact, at one time it was sold in a box on a DVD I think.)

Did I mention that the full game is FREE? You can download it and play it for free! These developers seem to care about online multiplayer!!! and they are planning to patch this game soon to dramatically improve the online multiplayer community aspects.

I think the developers are hoping that people will purchase "Prime" accounts for $10 which adds a little bit to what you can do but is far from being a necessity. (Instead of carrying only 4 items you can carry 6 and you can spawn powerful hellbourne units if you have killed enough opponents--that's situational and far from being a requirement to contribute to your team and have fun.) I've been playing this for a few months and I haven't purchased a Prime account yet, so you can enjoy it for free. The other purpose might be to garner publicity for their new game Heroes of Newerth (which is supposed to be like DOTA).

I played the demo as mentioned in the OP but didn't really get into it.

I had heard that Savage 2 was made free to play (like Savage 1) some time ago, but haven't checked it out.

I don't know how the team is making any money.

I liked Savage 1 some, but I was never good at it, especially the beast side which I couldn't do anything with.
