I suppose it could be good. Successful spin-offs are pretty rare, though. For every "Frasier" there are two "Joey"s, at least.

I agree. The problem is people go in expecting the "same" show that the spin-off came from.

I like Bob Odenkirk but I don't think his character can carry a show. Especially not if he's similar to how he was in Breaking Bad...they really need kind some kind of angle about 'here's how he ended up in a strip mall' rather than just documenting his exploits there.

Mike's on board! I'm happy now, would love to see Mike's back-story maybe even more so than Saul's.

They went into Mike's backstory a bit on BB. He was a cop who got disillusioned with life on the force when the wife-beater finally killed his wife because Mike chose a "half measure". Still, he's a great character, so having him onboard can only make the show better.

As a prequel they have a chance to resurrect other dead characters too. Gus Fring, Hank, Tuco and Crazy Eight will all be able to fit the story and even Badger and Skinny Pete can cross paths with Saul before Walter White.

Without vince gilligan, it's going to have a much different flavor, and based on the bar he and his writers set, that generally would mean worse, unless some other BB writer studs are in on this one.

Where are you getting that it will be without Vince Gilligan? Last I saw he was signed as showrunner and several other BB producers are confirmed too.

It's not that I'm getting he isn't, but that I'm not getting he is after scanning the article and the comments here.
