linkage

Saudi Arabia has reportedly imposed strict border checks to enforce a ban on the export of sand.
There are fears that the growing demands of the construction industry could lead to a shortage in the desert kingdom.

The Arab News newspaper reports that neighbouring Bahrain needs to import large quantities of sand for reclaiming land from the sea.

Demand is also expected to grow as the process of reconstruction in Iraq gathers pace.

Has someone been taking news stories off the onion again?

Charrison, the thought is cute but the link does not support the contents of your post. The link says Saudis would love to be able to export sand. Where does the quoted material come from?

If by "the above link" you mean the original link. I must be losing it. I can't find "Saudi Arabia has reportedly imposed strict border checks to enforce a ban on the export of sand." in the article

Yes it is there. The fault is mine. I tend not to read the headlines or intro paragraphs because, as you may know, they're generally written by someone other than the person who wrote the article.

I'll have to correct the error of my ways -- at least in this respect.

Thanks
