Word has it there are many Macs in use at the Redmond campus and in Bill Gates' home. So his unfamiliarity with Windows 8 wouldn't surprise me.

When I interned at Microsoft, the building I was in had a Mac testing room with about 20 computers. It was actually a interesting room because it was all white: white floors, white walls, white tables, white walls, and white computers.

And yeah, a lot of the employees had iPhones and there were even a handful of people that took Mac laptops to meetings. Nobody really seemed to care.

His "higher is better" response on reddit lead me to believe he was still using Win2K.

That story sounds like a joke. Is it reprinted from the Onion? Why would Gates not already have Windows 8 on whatever computer he was either given or that he brought in?

The New Yorker's Onion parody was their number three most popular and number one most e-mailed story. Mi$$ion accomplished. Not that they have much remaining credibility.

But that's besides the point because I had a similar issue with 8.1. I got it working eventually though.

And yet he has a lot more money to 'pay for it whenever he wants it'.

but then again, I bet his wife could say the same thing. :biggrin:
