It's not much of a resource if you have to expend more of the other resources you have for what you get.

It's never BEEN a resource. It's an energy storage medium.

Exactly my point.

Yea, like a tree. Whoops! Did you miss something?

lessee here.

Trees grow naturally, and can be used after minimal energy expenditure in processing to provide power, building materials, etc.
Trees will then re-grow if managed properly, providing more resources.

Hydrogen, however, must be ripped shrieking away from oxygen, requiring more power than is provided by re-uniting it with oxygen.

Energy resource = HIGH-ENERGY substance that can be converted to a LOW-ENERGY substance through some pathway, creating work.

Energy storage medium = LOW-ENERGY substance that can be converted to a HIGH-ENERGY substance at one time, then converted back to a LOW-ENERGY substance at another time, releasing the stored energy when it is needed.

No, a tree is a resource because you get more energy by burning it than it takes to cut it down. Trees are therefore a renewable resource. Hydrogen is an energy storage medium, since excluding losses you get the same amount of energy out that you put in.

If you try to claim that trees are an energy storage resource because they store solar energy, then Oil is an energy storage medium too, and evertyhing is a source of energy since energy only, basically comes from fusion, but then again, fusion comes from particles, which come from the big bang, so nothing again is a resource, everything is a stoarge medium, and we're all gonna die by the virtue of our living.

Entropy is a bitch. No matter how green you are, it's gonna kick your ass in the end.
