are satellite-based ISPs good and reliable? i'm thinking of getting one if it is reliable..and fast...er than cable or dsl.

TERRIBLE latency, which means COMPETELY UNUSABLE for gaming (800 ms pings the norm). Downloading OK. Affected by weather. 1-Way requires a phone line, 2-way does not, but EVEN MORE latency.
