Satalite ISP....What is best?

Title. Hughes duo, direc way, etc. What is the best. I think I would like sat tv/cable from one company, I am using Road RUnner, and im quite tired of the outages and service calls. (On Average 2 a month) So im going satalite.
 
On the DirecWay/Direct tv/direcpc website it says "access" up to 400 kbps so im assuming downstream. Maybe upstream 200?
 
Outages? Latency? Probably not NEARLY as much as R R. Was out all day. Made Service call #5 for this month!🙁😱:disgust:
 
I would never give up cable or DSL for satellite internet service. Hell I wouldn't give up a good dial up for satellite. Never.

I had satellite for 2 years (just got rid of it) and the uploads are terrible. I was lucky to get 20kb uploads on a good day. Latency.....try pings of 720+ ms average, NEVER lower than 700ms. And satellite sucks for anything other than HTTP. FTP? Good luck, hehe.

The key wording both providers use is "up to" meaning they don't promise any speed.

And at least your getting service calls, lol. When satellite goes down, good luck getting any help at all.

The only time (IMHO) satellite makes any sense is if you are in a location where you can't get decent dial up/cable/DSL service.

I have DirecPC. Since I don't have the option for cable or DSL it's the best I can do. It is however much better than dialup. The upto 400kbps is a load of crap though. Most people almost always get a least 800k 😉 I've even gotten stuff at 1600kbps . Not bad for satellite.
 
Forget any online gaming if you get a satellite. Your ping will be worse than dialup.

Download speeds are excellent, though.
