Satalite dish question

Is it normal for a satalite dish to lose it's signal when it rains,or snows?.If not what is the fix to this problem?

In heavy rain or snow the signal is not getting to your dish. I have this problem, and from what I understand there is no way to fix it.

No snow where I live here but I have heard it does happen. I usually only lose signal during very heavy cloud cover and even then it's only for seconds at a time.

Are you sure the dish is aimed exactly on-target, and that it isn't partially obstructed by something already, e.g., trees, roof overhang, etc.? We're in the Midwest, so we have a lot of inclement weather, but we only lose DBS signal two or three times in a normal year, usually for only a few minutes during torrential rains (no matter what the cable companies would have you believe). If you're sure the dish is clear and aimed correctly, you might have a flakey cable, or maybe you're in a fringe reception area, e.g., Canada or extreme NE or NW U.S. In that case, you can buy a larger dish to increase signal strength.

Of course!

But only the heaviest rain or snow storms would do it... i have a DTV dish up, all the up here in Canada, and even then, it only happens a couple of times a year in only the worst weather. So if it's happening to you a lot, check the transponders and see what the signals are at... if they'are at 60-70, maybe you can re-aim the dish so you'll get them in the 90s. Whether they're at 60 or 95 won't affect your reception quality in normal weather... but it'll give you a good buffer when the weather is crap.
