Is it possible to run my WD Raptor off the SATA_RAID1 connector? I also want to run my other WD Sata HD off the SATA_RAID2 connector just as storage. What am I doing wrong coz i can't get my mb to reconize my HD's when they are connected there but when i connect them to the SATA1 connector, it's fine. Reason I want to use the SATA_RAID1 connector is because i want to use SATA DVD writers on the SATA1 connectors... Thanks!

I assume you mean you are trying to hang regular SATA devices off the onboard RAID controller on your A8V Deluxe? Your post is very unclear.

You should be able to do this, but you may need to turn off the RAID support for it in BIOS (usually you can set the secondary controller to either 'off', 'non-RAID', or 'RAID').

Sorry for being unclear, here's all i want to do, I just want to run both my WD Sata HD's off the SATA_RAID1 and SATA_RAID2, one for the OS and one for just storage without setting up any kind of RAID because if I use the SATA1 and SATA2 connectors, then i can't use my SATA DVD writer coz it won't reconize on the SATA_RAID1 connectors. Hopefully that's a lil more clear? :)

Like I said, if you're trying to use the onboard RAID controller in a non-RAID fashion, you usually need to change a setting for that in the BIOS (and then your drives should show up as normal, although you may need to change the boot order if you want to boot off the "RAID" controller). If you are trying to do something else, I'm lost, and you need to provide more information.

Thanks Matthias99, finally got the HD detected on the SATA_RAID1, just a matter of turning off the RAID controller! Lesson learned!
