SATA3 mobo recommendation?

I've not built a new system in about five years, but I need to build a new gaming system in the next 3 weeks or so. Here's what I've worked out so far.

Got a great deal on Crucial RealSSD C300 SATA3 drive, so would like a board that has SATA3.

Still on my shopping list to acquire:
Win7 x64
Intel Core i7-950 proc
6 to 8G of DDR3 RAM
a 1-2T HDD
either a geForce gtx 460 with a gig of RAM or a geForce gtx 470 if I can swing the extra cost

Anybody have a mobo recommendation that would work well for this configuration?

I'd also be grateful for any other suggestions you can make about particulars of the above such as which flavor of Win7 I should be considering, memory configuration/speed, and a quiet-ish but fast HDD.

Thanks in advance!

You have to actually provide information about your intended use if you expect OS recommendation. Kinda the same thing for MBs, as SATA3 isn't that rare of a feature, and whether or not you are OCing is about as important a factor in differentiating.

Fair enough. The hardest I'll push the system will be for gaming. I'll do light desktop work in Office and other programs, but I'm thinking that calling it a gaming machine probably describes most of what it'll do that will push the hardware at all.

As far as OCing, I've played with it in the past and am considering it, so a mobo that makes it easy would be useful, but if you can imagine a point that is the furthest thing in the universe from a hardcore OCer, I'm right there ;)

me and a few others have not been able to get the c300 working on the sata3 connectors on the asus p6x58d-e board. we're all using it on the regular sata connectors defeating the purpose of buying the c300 in the first place

yes i'm on the latest bios and drivers for the marvell controller...

sandy bridge motherboard though...

usb 3.0 sata 3 galore, and usb2.0 oc lul?

Interesting. In the comments was this gem:
"You lot do know that Asus and Assrock are no longer part of the same company right?
Asus is, well Asus and Assrock is part of Pegatron who is no longer a part of Asus...
This is why Assrock is trying to be less sucky and is doing stuff like this to try and improve its image in the motherboard world."

Is this true, Asrock no longer part of Asus?

All of those are good boards. Just pick the one with the exact features you want.

You do know there is absolutely no difference in performance between SATA 1.5 and SATA 3.0 unless you are putting multiple drives on the same header right?

tyl998 is correct ,any of those boards will be a winner..all are stellar boards...it would be impossible to go wrong with any of them..
I think the gigabyte is the most popular of all 4..the reviews on newegg and elsewhere are terriffic...the sabertooth is also popular...evga if you want US based customer service...
comes down to which board you like the best, these 1366 setups are so awsome in performance....
also the sabertooth comes with a 5 yr warranty...

which sata slot is 6 gps slot i want my vertex 2 120 gig going 6 gps

It depends on your board but the 6Gbps ports are two ports, typically a different color from the others. There are 4x 3GBps ports usually grouped together.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-682-_-Product

On the P8P67 Pro, the dark blue and white ports are the 6Gbps ports (I believe the white ones are the Intel ports and the dark blue ones are the extra Marvell chip ports), while the light blue ports are 3Gbps.
