My friend just built a new system based on the Abit KN8 Ultra. He has an Antec PSU and a Maxtor sata2 HD. Booted up first time and installed Windows XP no problem. Turned it off went to bed.
Next morning it wouldn't boot into Windows and seemed to get worse. After trying a host of things like Memory timings and replacement, different cable, etc. He changed the jumper on the HD to sata1 instead of sata2 and it booted right into Windows.
Will the latest drivers and updated bios take care of this? Do you need to get cables for sata2. It seems the ones that came with the MB should work. The MB is compatible with sata2. thanks
