sata versus ide

Any reasons to go Sata besides the nice cabling they provide? I don't see any performance issues with IDE compared to SATA until SATAII. Will boards have IDE interfaces for another 2 years?

It's really a toss up right now. My Sata drive is slightly faster than my IDE drive according to most tests I run.

My 7200rpm SATA drive benchmarks in my tests about 30% faster for sustained read rates than my 7200rpm IDE. Write speed is almost exactly the same.

Is the buffer and storage space the same on both? Larger storage and larger buffer size usually indicate higher speed.

My drives are 100GB WD 7200rpm IDE 8MB buffer and 80GB Hitachi 7200 SATA 8MB buffer
