SATA RAID Controller

I'm looking for a suggestion on a good SATA RAID controller, prefferably one that would allow me to later upgrade from SATA-I to SATA-II, I currently want to use two 120GB Maxtor's in RAID 1, however having the ability to have more than one RAID 1 pair would be nice. Cheaper is nice, as long as it works well.

Welcome to the AT Forums.

A SATA 2 controller card would require a PCI Express slot - I don't think any have been made for a PCI slot as the thruput really isn't adequate for even SATA I. Does your current mobo have some SATA ports on it? Sometimes the PCI SATA controllers can be problematic on mobos w/o existing SATA support. Use the buyer's reviews on Newegg.com to find one that might work for you. All SATA 2 drives I know of are backward compatible with SATA I either via a jumper or a software setting (Hitachi), so you can use SATA 2 drives now and just change the setting when you get a SATA II mobo.
