SATA ports - numbering

My motherboard doesn't specify which SATA port is which.

It just has 2 blue ones, and 2 black ones. I know the blue ones are 6 Gbps, and the black ones are 3 Gbps, but I don't know which is port 0 and 1 (blue pair), and port 2 and 3 (black pair).

Is the one away from the motherboard the higher number, and the one closer to the motherboard the lower number?

Hmmm.

Which one should I be connecting a lone optical drive to? Does it really matter if it's port 2 or 3?

If it matters: my system configuration is 2 HDDs (RAID 0) and 1 optical drive.

I edited my answer above about the ports. Port 0 should be the bottom blue SATA port (didn't think about the port orientation being parallel to the surface of the board instead of vertical to it, like Port 5) with SATA1 being on top.

If it were me, I'd plug it in to SATA port 5 (the gray one) since you aren't using an mSATA card. The only ports you definitely don't want to plug it in to are the blue 6G ports.
