SATA version

IDE version

I bought one and it just arrived and didn't realize it was rj-45 only (no usb direct to pc) though it has 2 usb 2.0 ports on it for printers or flash disks.

Apparenlty it runs linux as it can format drives to ext2 or ext3.

Haven't opened mine yet.... geeks looksl ike they have a lot in stock. 216 IDE right now, and 81 SATA

This is ridiculously cheap for a gigabit nas box assuming it works correctly.

Locked since it's dead.

That is the link from mwave about it. I guess it has a built in web, ftp and print server too.

geez, i decided to go with an opensolaris/zfs box for a file server, but this makes me rethink that.

btw, how did you get the 10% and 4% discounts? i don't see geeks on techbargains or cashback.live.com.

coupon code "techbargains" is 10% off at checkout.

geeks is actually "compgeeks.com" so... its under C on live.com's list of stores

Wrong. That's of the time the thing was made. Controllers don't care how big a drive is. It will support 10 TB if the drive existed.

Thanks OP for the tip, I needed to spend my store credit.

Crap. I forgot about the 10% off code.

I think this is a great deal!

I'm not expecting lightning performance but I think it will be a great learning tool for Samba server and other mystery networking lingo.

Thanks hans007!

Shipping was $12 here. :(

Thanks though, had a bit of trouble convincing myself that it was worth $35, but I figure if nothing else it'll work as a print server (which I rarely if ever see for less than this).

Wonder if there is anything for bit torrent or 360 sharing, that would be killer. I've got enough upload bandwidth I'd like to share for something like a linux distro, but the power usage of a desktop is too much for me to do that and leave it on 24/7.

If it can do all it says I'll love it though. :D

File system support is somewhat disappointing. Only FAT32/EXT2/EXT3. FAT32 is far too limited today. Would prefer NTFS so that the drive could be removed and directly connected to a Windows box in case of problems.

It could always be removed and connected to a linux box in case of problems. :)

My thanks to the OP, I'm in for two of the IDE models. I would have preferred the SATA model, but I was a little too late for that. $56.98 shipped to Texas for two, can't beat that with a stick....

I'm in for one. The shipping was $11 and I paid through paypal, $33.49 shipped with the 10% code. It's the first time I've used Live Cashback. How does that work? Do they just credit it back to my paypal account?
