I read snipets of concern over SATA Lock and corruption of SATA drives.... but a search of the forums for "SATA Lock" only turned up this thread:
http://forums.anandtech.com/me...y=y&keyword1=sata+lock

I have an Epox 9NDA3+ on order with 3000+ Winch. and I WILL be overclocking. - will that mean I won't be able to run SATA drives in the future?

Can anyone explain if I should be worried?

I'm not very familar with SATA, but I'm pretty sure it's similar to PCI and AGP locks. Basically, the PCI and AGP speeds are tied to the front side bus (FSB) of the system. However, on a lot of boards, the speeds of the PCI/AGP are "locked" regardless of the FSB of the system.

In cases where the PCI/AGP are not locked and you are overclocking, the higher PCI/AGP bus speeds can lead to instability and/or corruption. From what I've read, many SATA users are running into the same situation because the SATA bus isn't locked.

so even though most AMD64 MB have PCI and AGP locks that seem to work...
.... the SATA controllers are running off HT base frequencies?

opps! a bit of design oversight!

Does this happen to my board? (woudl be nice to know BEFORE I buy a SATA drive !)

ill be running the epox 9NDA3J which only has the 2 SATA ports run off the NF3 chipset.

do those have a problem with SATA lock or just addon chipsets like promise, silicon image etc?
