Sata II cable?

argoldst

Senior member
I just ordered a Sata II drive and am wondering if I need a special cable to connect it to the mb? Is there such a thing as a sata 2 cable or am I just supposed to use a plain Sata cable?

Any recommendations?

Yes, there is a SATA II cable, but the only difference is that it has a better, more shock-proof connector. But a regular SATA I cable will still work.

so with a sata II mb and sata II hard drive I could use a regular sata cable and have the proper sata 2 speed? Can anyone else confirm this?

There's no such thing as a SATA II cable, just SATA cables, of which some of the newer ones are of the click connect variety.
