SATA HDD Docking Station for $29.99 after $10 MIR

Might have been me...

Just wanted to comment: This is the best invention since water!

High recommended, even at (gulp) MSRP... 😀

EDIT

I just noticed, that's the USB only version.

Here's the model you'll want...

BlacX 2.5"/3.5" SATA Hard Drive USB/eSATA Docking Station

USB2 works okay, but it's S-L-O-W!

eSATA speeds are indistinguishable from having the drive hooked up inside your machine! (sometimes faster according to reviews)

The USB/eSATA model is the one I have, and the one I recommend... 😉

MWave also has the THERMALTAKE ST0005U blacX 2.5 / 3.5 inch sata hard drive docking station w/ usb 2.0 interface for $15 AR

Linky
$15 rebate

EDIT- eSata rebate has expired for the eSATA version at MWave I originally posted

Qualifying purchase from Dec 5 until Dec 19 - 2008. So rebate is dead if you did not buy between those dates...

my bad, I just got the email from MWave, and messed up the linkage, got the 2 products mixed up. The post is edited, only the usb 2.0 version has the rebate now at MWave.

the OP linkage is valid, sorry for screwing up the thread, OP

Newegg has this Thermaltake eSata/USB version for 39.99 FS. I tried the Kingwin model a while back. It was DOA and low build quality, to boot. Although I generally try not to be overly brand conscious, I think I may spring the extra $6 or so for the name brand this time (ie: Thermaltake over Azio). I really could use one of these things if it actually worked... Don't forget the 2.75% MS live cashback for purchases made at Newegg.

Newegg has the eSATA version on sale until 1/31 for $30 after $10MIR.

Link

Or there are refub'd ones on Thermaltake's own website for the same $30 with no rebate.

I did receive mine a couple of weeks ago.. It works great and is very well built... not at all cheap..

A fine deal with the $10 rebate for a new one, but do not hesitate, as today is the last day it is valid.

The specs for the Thermatake BlacX ST0005U say it supports All 2.5" or 3.5" SATA HDD up to 1TB.

Anyone know if 1.5TB or 2TB drives will work?

I would guess they will work - at the time device was made they did not test it with 1.5 and 2.0, so they can't claim compatibility.
