There seems to be lots of confusion about Sata and Sata2.

Perhaps you should just specify where possible Sata2-150 and Sata2-300.

I think too many people assume that Sata2 = 300MB/sec which is not necesarily the case. See the recent anandtech articles regarding this.

AFAIK there are not yet any HDD that support Sata2 300 and NCQ. But they will be coming as now the motherboard chipsets supporting these features (ATI crossfire etc.) are finally coming out.

Just a suggestion, thanks for all the work in puttin these updates together!!!

Maybe, I'm wrong but here's a drive that supports SATA2 300 and NCQ.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822152025

Also, my motherboard which has been out for a while supports both also on the nf4 chipset.

Oatman had it close. Some manufacturers decided calling it "SATA II", but there is really nothing that says SATA II is a spec. It's either SATA 1.5Gbps or SATA 3.0Gbps. Either speed can support NCQ, hotswap, etc.

is that Gigabits? or Gigabytes? I personally don't know much about SATA yet.

Thanks Cap'n

I hadn't seen that drive. What do people think about Samsung HDDs?

I'm old fashioned and lean toward Seagates. But they don't have an NCQ SATA 300 drive that I know of...
