Sata hard drive

Can I use a serial ATA hard drive (only have one) and benefit from its ability as opposed to a non SATA hard drive? Can I still benefit using it in "serial mode" or do I need two of these drives to benefit from its speed? I'm confused on this issue and hope somebody can help me out. Yes, my motherboard can support it.

Thanks, Pyro

If you are using a board that native serial support then you should see a difference especially if you get a 10k raptor. I guess you are referring to RAID 0 for adding a second one for speed, yes you would get increase in performance. The other reason I like SATA is the smaller cables add in better case air flow.
