SATA, Hard drive specification. Cable/Power location?

Just bought a external hard drive that uses SATA. There isn't any cable inside the enclosure, just a PCB controller. Planning to replace the drive. My question:

Is the location of the serial cable and power plug part of the specification and any NEW SATA will fit perfectly with the PCB controller? Or is my enclosure just made for a certain brand of hard drive.

Any idea or help appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't found a case/hard drive where that is not true, so IMO the answer to your question is "yes ".

It came without a cable? Was this an Open Box or Refurbished part?

Its new. The drive is attach to the pin on the circuit board controller, similar to how a 2.5 notebook drive attach to the notebook without any cable in between.

I misunderstood, I thought you meant no cable going from the enclosure to your computer.
