I've tried to search and found conflicting info about installing Win XP pro on a Seagate SATA H/D.......none raid. After install starts a partition (raw) is shown, but when "install XP on this partition is selected a message saying "to install XP on the partition you selected setup must write some startup files to the following disk: unknown disk
However this disk does not contain a windows XP compatable partition. Return to previous screen and create that partition" I delete and recreate, but get back to the same message. I have a Monarch computer with Winfast/foxconn CK804K8MA M/B.........nforce 4 chip set. Some say that chip set doesn't require the F6 floppy driver install for sata. Others say all sata drives require drivers to be loaded during f6. What's the story and where do I get the drivers.......if needed. Should the bios detect the harddrive on initial startup........before formatting or installing any system? It doesn't. sata is enabled in the bios. Any ideas??
