sata H/D win xp install........again

I've tried to search and found conflicting info about installing Win XP pro on a Seagate SATA H/D.......none raid. After install starts a partition (raw) is shown, but when "install XP on this partition is selected a message saying "to install XP on the partition you selected setup must write some startup files to the following disk: unknown disk
However this disk does not contain a windows XP compatable partition. Return to previous screen and create that partition" I delete and recreate, but get back to the same message. I have a Monarch computer with Winfast/foxconn CK804K8MA M/B.........nforce 4 chip set. Some say that chip set doesn't require the F6 floppy driver install for sata. Others say all sata drives require drivers to be loaded during f6. What's the story and where do I get the drivers.......if needed. Should the bios detect the harddrive on initial startup........before formatting or installing any system? It doesn't. sata is enabled in the bios. Any ideas??

Well goto http://ultimatebootcd.com/ download that and burn the image onto cd. Then boot up and run it, try using the hard disc installation software because i use that disc and i think seagate has alot of tools on that disc(maybe the software might pick up your sata drive). Its great aswell you can format/create new partitions properly install the drive and set the HDD capacity. Then when you install it thorugh Win XP setup it might say "leave the file format intact" so you dont even have to format you can go straight into installing.

Opps, 😱

Usually the problem that you are seeing is caused by the BIOS using a different hard drive as the first hard drive. Example: The BIOS is set up to boot from the floppy, then the CD, then Hard drive 1, then hard drive 2.....
You are trying to install the OS on hard drive 2 so Windows wants to put some boot files on HD 1 as that's the first bootable hard drive.
Either change the boot order in BIOS, or unplug the cable from the hard drive you don't want to use until you get Windows installed.

Bozo 😀
