SATA External Connection

Is there a PCI card or other device that offers front port mounted SATA connectors along with power for the drive? While I am not a PC expert, I do have enough skill that friends and family are always looking for assistance, and I find I am frequently hooking up a hard drive to my PC to check contents or backup, etc. It would be nice just to plug it in the front of my PC.

Thanks.

The best I have ever seen is a rear mounted PCI slot cover that has a SATA port and a power connector on it. I have never seen one that connects to the front of the PC.

I think both SVC and jab-tech have those PCI slot plates with SATA and Molex. They have them for 3/5" bays too.

Thanks. I found a 3.5" front mounted one from Directron.com:

with a 4-pin molex connetor

and one from Sidewinder computers:

http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/akpcfrpawisa.html

Which uses a SATA power connector. The problem with that is that I cannot find a SATA power cord with the same connection at both ends.

However the one with the molex, there are plenty of 4-pin to SATA power connectors available.

Either way, looks like I found what I was looking for.
