SATA DVD player errors ONLY when overclocking

I have an Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2 mb with a 2.4 cpu

I set the CPU in the bios from auto to manual. Then it allowed me to change the speed from default of 266.

I changed it 300. And now my cpu speed went from 2.34 to 2.71

Its running very good (without crashing) except for one problem:

Now my SATA DVDplayer won't run any .exe files from the drive - even autorun.exe!

It has got to be the overclocking causing this because I've gone back and forth changing only the cpu clock speed in the bios and the DVD player always goes back to full functionality as soon as I run at the default cpu clock speed again.

Maybe someone knows another tweak in the bios I can use to make my DVD player functional again while I'm overclocking???

Is PCIe not locked? Sounds like a SATA bus issue when overclocking...maybe your NB or SB needs an additional minor voltage bump to give it more signal to noise on the other functions that are going on in a NB and a SB?

I have the same motherboard and I can confirm that overclocking will cause errors with SATA. I can't even use my SATA HD if I overclock even a couple of megahertz. It's a real show stopper as when I was using an IDE drive I could get some reasonable overclocks with this board.

It appears to be a limitation of the board. My best guess is that it's one of them compromises made to allow unique backwards support of the board.

That's what I needed to hear.
My 750GB SATA HD went down a few days ago with unrecoverable errors. I could only get back into it with my other (ide) drive - which did an auto chkdsk /f to find bad blocks, etc. I had to reformat the drive eventually.
