SATA DVD Burners

Bateluer

Lifer
All Newegg carrys right now are some $90+ Plextors. Since I have to lose a DVD burner with my AM2 upgrade, I would like to get another SATA burner to offset the loss. I looked at Newegg, Monarch, Outpost, and Mwave, but couldn't find any.

Does anyone other than Plextor make them?

What's wrong with Plextor? Why not use an external burner and stop worrying about changing systems?

Nothing's wrong with Plextor, I have a 716A and a 504A in my system right now. They are just expensive. External drives take up room on on my desk, which has limited space as is, with my desktop's speakers, my notebook, its speakers, etc.

I understand about space. But, Newegg's price is <$100 - and that is pretty cheap for what you get. Besides, it's a very good burner. And, you can get a refurb from Tiger for <$90. Keep looking. 🙂

Great. Hopefully some more options will appear in the next coupld weeks.

SATA speeds are a much richer experience than IDE, personally. But seriously, you can always get a daughter card to achieve this capability of not having to lose the ability to run a specific interface for hard drives.
