I'm looking for the best bang for the buck SATA DVD burner at the moment. It is time to go all SATA and get rid of those ribbon cables.

I would like to get Lightscribe as well which will limit the choices somewhat.

Any suggestions?

go to newegg and buy a liteon for around $30 plus shipping, that would probally be the best bang for the $ IMHO :)

The cheapest one, of course. Optical drives are a commodity these days.

All opt drives are around 30 bucks these days, I would just go and get the latest lite on dvd-rw

lite-on, pioneer, nec (not the newer ones, those are crap i hear), samsung, lg...take your pick, read the review to make sure they burn discs right and arent fail-happy. you should be fine.

edit: cant spell pioneer right.

I bought that. Works great for me.

I generally don't even consider max write speeds anyways because when I burn DVD's I do it at a lower speed to ensure errors are kept at a minimal or eliminated completely.

However, it seems pretty speedy overall for $30.

Also has lightscribe which is something I like.
