Dumb question
My laptop is having startup and restart problems.
It is 22 months old and out of warranty.
I have been exchanging e-mails with HP and their latest fix is to reinstall all the software, etc.
The only problem I have with that is it is very time consuming.
When I bought the laptop I made a set of restore disks, etc. A week ago I did a full backup. I have gone to the HP web site and downloaded all the drivers used on the laptop.
If I am going to reinstall all the software I will just install a new and larger hard drive. My current drive is 120 gig. I see a need for a larger drive in the future and thought a 320 to 500 gig drive will be a good fit. HP tech support said the installed bios will see a 500 gig drive.
Here is where I get confused. The drive in the laptop is a SATA drive.

To remove the drive you just remove the case cover and there are 2 screws that hold the drive in place. Remove the screws and there is s pull tab to pull the drive out. I have looked at drives on the Newegg site and when you look at the pictures of drives the connections look different then what I have. Do all 2.5 inch SATA drives use the same connections or there different connections for different drives?
I don? want to order a part and find it won?t fit!
Thanks
