did clean install of XP on new computer. Anytime I installed drivers with f6 XP wouldn't finish install. It would fail on it's 1st reboot of the installation process. Anyway, I went ahead and did the XP install without f6 and the SATA drivers. Now.... computer runs fine although I can tell that the hard drive cannot keep-up because SATA is not installed, and in devices properties we have:
IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller
Primary IDE Channel
Primary IDE Channel
Secondary IDE Channel
Secondary IDE Channel
Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
Nothing about SATA (of course)
So..... how can I change my controller to SATA?
Specs:
MSI K8N Neo4 Moboard
AMD 64 3500+
1gig (2x512) Crucial Ballistix RAM
One HDD-Western Digital 250gb with 5 partitions attached with SATA cable to SATA 1
WinXP Home w/ SP2

thank-you!

I would be interested in an answer to this as well. I had the same problem installing XP on a different board (w/ XP not finishing install with F6). I tried installing the drivers after and then changed the BIOs settings to SATA, but not sure if that did the trick. Might be something worth looking at, since you haven't got any responses.
