SATA driver install

When I built my system four days ago my raptor was still in the mail and I went ahead and installed the OS on an IDE drive, which I intended to be my storage and the raptor as the main drive for the OS. Now I installed the raptor and the BIOS is recognizing it. The problem I have is that I can't seem to install the SATA driver for it so that I can move all the data from the IDE. Do I need to reinstall the OS so that I can install the driver for the SATA driver by way of F6 or is there another way to install the driver? Oh, and my OS is the free downloaded X64 and I already downloaded the driver from DFI.
 
I think you do need SP1 or SP2 [pref]. [If you are using xp]

I heard on the grapevine that it provides SOME support for SATA
 
You'll need to reinstall. To load the SATA drivers, XP needs to see it at startup load to know how to initialize the drive. Besides, a clean install is best for a new/different drive just in case something goes wrong, you can put your old drive back and be running while you RMA the new one.

I was afraid the reinstall would be the best options and I suspected as much, though I have not tried it I hope the activation key will still work for the xp 64.

jack... yeah I have tried "add a new hardware" and I don't know how to replicate the procedure of the F6 to install the driver, I have tried to install it by reinstalling driver or updating driver on the instalation wizard with the driver on a disc on the cdrom drive but it would not go ahead and install the driver. I am pretty sure I have the right driver for I got it from Invidia.
 
I always hold on to my SATA drives and connect them AFTER installing SP1.
Then I go into the computer manager and initialize the drive and format
 
In "add hardware", go through the options to manually choose what to install. Choose SCCI and raid. Most SATA controllers are recognized as SCCI in Windows.
 
You don't say what mobo you have. Some boards (eg: my Asus P4P800-E, and some other Asus, I know) do not need drivers at F6 if you have SP1. That's because SP1 recognizes the Intel chip for SATA. If you do a clean install on your SATA drive, be sure to remove the ATA drive, then reconnect it after the install is complete on the SATA drive.
 
Oh sorry guys, I forgot to mention which board I have. I just built the DFI SLI DR, I could not wait for the a8n SLI deluxe that I RMA'd to ASUS cause my cpu was getting lonely. I have not been able to try anything out yet cause I am so tired and fell asleep. What do you know the asus board came while I am asleep.

I will try your suggestion helpmeout, I know what you mean. I had to remove the IDE drive from my p4c 800e dlx to create a raid 0 array.
