Alright, right now I have 3 hard drives and 2 cd rom drives in my computer. I have 2 ide slots which covers only 4 out of the total 5 drives I have. Rather than buying an ide controller card or raid controller I decided to use the IDE--->SATA converter that came with my ABIT NF7-S and run my main drive off of it.

When I try and boot my computer with SATA it restarts in a continuous loop while trying to start windows. My first suspicion was a power problem but I just recently bought a new 480w Antec Neopower, so that cant be it. I'm at a loss and totally out of ideas. Any help is greatly appreciated!

bad idea, you can't change the controller from underneath your windows installation. Why not run one of the other hard drives or opticals on the sata, and put your primary HDD back on the channel it was on.

ive tried using it on my other storage drives but they arent recognized in windows, like they arent there at all. i didnt think hard drives needed to be formated for specific controllers?
